I had the opportunity last week to visit beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with Iberostar Resorts. This was a wonderful learning experience, a way to detox with the humidity, and a way from me to brainstorm with other like-minded travel advisors. With so many changes in the industry over the past few years, I always love the opportunity to talk business with other people from around the country.

Today, I’m going to share a bit about the property I stayed in!

Iberostar Grand Bavaro is an adult only property located in Punta Cana, and yes, they have a pirate ship in the middle of the property (with a nightclub inside!). It’s only about 20 minutes from the airport, all rooms come with butler service, and you have access to around 16 a la carte restaurants! The all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic are not known for their food, but I’m going to be honest, it was quite good! Shockingly enough, my favorite meal was from the buffet for their Dominican night! They had a beet and avacado salad that I could eat every day for the rest of my life!

The biggest bonus to this property is that you truly do have five resorts in one! This is the highest level property in a “complex” of five resorts. This means that you can use the other properties restaurants and amenities, but they can’t use yours! Now you have access to two spas, two fitness centers with TONS of classes, a casino, and endless activities. The other properties are family resorts, so you will see kids if you head that direction, but you can always escape back to the tranquility of your adult only oasis. Plus, there is an amazing golf course that you can access for a round of golf, lessons, or even the driving range! I am not a golfer, but we did drive around nine holes, and I got a short lesson at the driving range while I was there. The golf pros were fabulous with me (pretty sure I’m joining the LPGA now) :)

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with what the resort had to offer, and I feel it’s an amazing bang for your buck vacation. I am excited to have more relationships in the Caribbean for both families, honeymoons, and just some adult fun. I even had a class on destination weddings while I was there, so I know and understand the ins and outs of a ceremony or group event within the resort.
